Authentically human?

At Trifecta, our tagline is ‘authentically human in the pursuit of excellence‘. It’s not just a tagline; it’s our mantra. Every priority, and every decision, is viewed and vetted through that filter.

But why? Why is it so important to us, and what do we mean when we say it?

Here, I’d like to talk about one half of that statement: ‘authentically human‘.

There’s no arguing that AI is affecting every aspect of life, including every field of work. And recruiting is no exception.

There are a great many recruiting firms that are adopting AI in ways that seek to replace the people doing the work. Using AI-powered ATSs to (I guess?) do the work for them. I won’t mince words: I think this is a mistake, and the wrong approach.

To be clear: I am not anti-technology. I believe that AI (LLMs and other applications) have their uses. I use LLMs to surface different ideas than I might have come up with on my own. I use them to analyze and create summaries for lengthy documents. I use them to organize large amounts of data into a format I can more easily use.

But I do not use AI to screen resumes, and I never will.

I do not use AI chatbots as a first point of contact for people who visit our website, and I never will.

I do not use AI to assess or evaluate candidates. And I never will.

You might occasionally get an out-of-office reply if you email me. But that is the closest you’ll ever get to interacting with an ‘AI Agent’ at Trifecta.

We are in the people business. Our client relationships are business-to-business, sure. But at the heart of that B2B relationship is one between two people. Similarly, the relationships we have with the candidates that we represent are person-to-person.

Every one of us is more than the job we currently have. We’re more than the company we work for. We’re more than our performance goals and expectations. We’re more than our achievements and accomplishments. And we’re certainly more than the words in a job posting or description, on a resume, or in a cover letter.

We’re not afraid to bring our whole selves to the work we do. In fact, we’re proud to do so.

In a world that seems to be racing headlong towards an AI-driven future, we’re committed to using the technology for what it is: a tool, nothing more and nothing less.

And to remaining defiantly, resolutely, and authentically human.
